Epiphanius, or Epiphanios (ca. 315-403), was bishop of Salmis (Constantia) in Cyprus from CE 367. He served as Metropolitan in Cyprus for about 36 years. As an ardent Nicene he actively opposed Origenism and other heresies. He joined Jerome and Theophilos of Alexandria in serious conflict against John II of Jerusalem (394) and John Chrysostom at Constantinople in 402. His works include the Panarion (or Refutation of All the Heresies) and a biblical dictionary titled On Weights and Measures.
