Biblical Theme

Opens in Orlando, Florida
The
Holy Land Experience is
a Living Biblical Museum
Orlando, FL - The Holy Land Experience, opened February 5, 2001, is a $16 million,
15-acre "living biblical museum" in Orlando. The Holy Land
Experience is a development of Zion's Hope, a nonprofit, non-denominational
Christian ministry headed by Marvin
J. Rosenthal, headquartered at the theme park site. Orlando-based ITEC
Entertainment Corp, one of the world's leading independent entertainment
design and technology companies, has responsibility for the design and
production of the total project.
The Itec
Entertainment Corporation, creators of Universal's Island of Adventure,
recreated biblical Jerusalem in elaborate and authentic detail. Its scope
is from 1450 BCE to CE 66, through the Hebrew Scriptures and the New
Testament, from Genesis through Revelation. It is a wholly sensory
experience--educational, historical, theatrical, inspirational and
evangelistic. The blending of sights, sounds, and tastes bring guests to a
world 7,000 miles away and more than 3,000 years back in time. Its
developers sought to create a wholesome, family oriented educational and
entertainment facility where Christians can come for encouragement and
reinforcement of their faith and experience a "total immersion"
in the biblical world.
From the moment that guests pass through the gates of the "walled
city" of ancient Jerusalem and enter a bustling, authentic 66 CE
Jerusalem street market, they embark on a journey that is unequalled
anywhere in the world. They are able to see, touch, hear and even taste
the fascinating culture of the Holy Land in a world-class, living,
biblically based museum.
The Holy Land Experience combines themed costumes, dramatic enactments,
special music written exclusively for the project, theatrical events,
high-tech, multi-media presentations, and a film--"The Seed of
Promise"-- shot on location in Israel. It all comes together to
create the wondrous journey from the time of Moses, ca. 1450 BCE, when the
Israelites began their 40 year desert sojourn, through Jesus' teachings in
the Second Temple, his crucifixion and forward to CE 66.
